Justin Small was diagnosed with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder at the age of 23, and tragically, only months later, he died by suicide. In the wake of this profound loss, his brother has become a key advocate in Milwaukee, joining others to fight against the stigma surrounding mental illness in the Black community and to push for greater access to mental health support.

The Stigma of the Durag

 This short documentary is a powerful blend of Vox Populi interviews and dynamic recreations that confronts the stigma surrounding durags, all told from the unique perspective of Milwaukee filmmaker Justin Goodrum. With personal insight and community voices, this film sheds light on how durags, often seen as symbols of culture and identity, have been unfairly stigmatized and misrepresented.

“Al Farming” is an inspiring short film that follows the journey of Chellette Henderson, who inherits a piece of land in rural Alabama and sets out to transform it into an educational hub for local youth. Through her passion and resilience, Chellette aims to bridge the gap between tradition and innovation, using the land to teach the next generation about farming, sustainability, and community empowerment. This uplifting story highlights the power of legacy, and the importance of providing young people with opportunities to learn and grow in connection with the land.
